The Finer Details

Welcome to The Old Fam Oast, a beautifully renovated holiday property, combining two properties as one - the larger Oast House that sleeps six plus the smaller one bedroom cosy cottage. These two interconnecting buildings offer a seamless blend of rustic heritage and modern comfort, making them the perfect retreat for families, friends, or even work colleagues seeking a distinctive countryside escape.

In the main house, you will step into the inviting open-plan kitchen and lounge, where exposed beams, a high ceiling, and a classic Belfast sink create a warm, yet stylish atmosphere. Contemporary appliances ensure the kitchen is both beautiful and functional, whether you're preparing a feast or enjoying a casual meal.

The lounge flows effortlessly from the kitchen, offering a cosy, yet spacious environment with comfortable seating, a smart TV and high-speed internet. Natural light pours in through high up windows and two doors leading to a secluded patio area. A double sofa bed in the lounge provides additional sleeping space for two children or one adult.

On the ground floor, you'll discover a stunning circular bedroom within the original curved Oast walls. This unique space is brought to life with colourful wallpaper, bespoke bedside tables repurposed from a historic safe and a cleverly designed en-suite featuring a striking blue and white floral shower splashback.

Upstairs, the open-plan landing offers a wonderful vantage point over the living area, showcasing exposed brickwork and original Oast walls. The spacious double bedroom on this level boasts a magnificent roll-top bath within the room itself, adding a luxurious touch. A small but functional en-suite is cleverly incorporated into the curved wall, ensuring both comfort and convenience.

Downstairs, if you make your way through the wooden door at the end of the kitchen you will discover a separate living and kitchen area. You'll be immediately drawn to the stunning wrought-iron spiral staircase, which elegantly connects the lounge with the upstairs bedroom. The open-plan ground floor features a plush teal sofa, quirky restored furniture and original artwork created by the talented owner—some of which are available for purchase.

The kitchen, running alongside the lounge, is also fully equipped with modern appliances. A rustic wooden door leads to the spacious, characterful bathroom, featuring a large shower, porcelain fixtures and a vintage mirror.

Upstairs, the large king-sized bedroom offers a blend of comfort and charm, with a beautiful view of the farm’s enclosed grounds. A vanity area, exposed hanging space and a full-length mirror complete the space. A split door at the far end reveals an additional exit leading down a set of exterior steps.

Both properties have their own adjacent, enclosed patio areas, perfect for al fresco dining or a peaceful morning coffee. The property has space for three cars to park right outside in the Farm's courtyward.

The entrance to the farm and parking area is shared with the owners and other guests. For safety reasons, guests are kindly asked not to venture beyond the designated areas, as this is a working farm.

Whether you’re seeking a peaceful countryside retreat or a unique space to gather with loved ones, this interconnecting holiday property offers an unforgettable stay filled with history, character and modern comforts.

A stunning location

Lenham

Lenham is a market village situated on the southern edge of the North Downs, in Kent, just 9 miles east of Maidstone. The picturesque square in the centre of the village has two public houses, a couple of restaurants, and a lovely tea-room.

Local attractions include Leeds Castle ('the loveliest castle in the world'), Chilston Park Hotel, a very popular wedding venue, The Lenham Chalk Cross, the nearby village of Pluckley (Darling Buds Country!) and the most haunted village in Kent! there are also plenty of vineyards to visit and of course sample!

Wine connoisseurs will love The Vinorium, which has become the UK's Leading Australian wine specialist. There are a number of specialist shops to browse in the village and you may need to check in advance if there is an exhibition on at the time of your stay, but The Process Gallery is one for the list if there is!

We are also partnered with a local wine tours company who can pick you up from The Manor Pen for free - please ask for more details.

The Farm is on the main A20 that connects the town of Ashford and the County Town of Maidstone. It is just over a mile outside the main village. Lenham has its own railway station, which is walkable but it will take around 40 minutes. There's a bus stop conveniently right outside the farm and its a regular bus route.
